Individual & Couples Psychotherapy

MY CLIENTS

I see my clients as partners in navigating the storm of life, which can be at times unpredictable and sometimes painful. We can find ourselves struggling in learned but unhelpful patterns, rather than using our inherent resilience and strengths to begin traveling in a direction that brings deeper meaning for us. I collaborate with my clients in the course of our treatment to track progress towards their goals and assist them in revealing their inherent strengths.

MY APPROACH

My therapeutic style is authentic, warm and non-judgmental. I believe each client is an individual, and there is no one approach that works for everyone. Through building a therapeutic relationship, I collaborate with my clients to find the most effective way that will personally work for them to make progress and have success in therapy.

WHY I LOVE THIS WORK

I believe in the inherent strength of each individual and that through our work together we can harness this strength to overcome obstacles, which may stand in the way of achieving desired outcomes.

WHAT I WANT FOR YOU

Clients have told me that through therapy with me they have developed understanding, awareness and self-love that allows them to break free from destructive thinking and behaviors.

MY SPECIALTIES, BACKGROUND, AND PERSONAL INTERESTS

I have been fortunate to work in a wide variety of settings. I started my clinical training providing psychotherapy to parents and families at Calworks in San Francisco where I received an award from Community Behavioral Health Services for my work with diverse populations. While there I utilized a psychodynamic approach to help parents to work through early childhood trauma in individual and group therapy. I facilitated psychotherapy groups including Women's Group, Anger Management and Seeking Safety (an evidenced based practice focused on healing from trauma).

I completed my master’s level clinical training with San Mateo County Behavioral Health, where I conducted individual therapy utilizing evidence-based practices including, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Acceptance Commitment Therapy. Following completion of my Masters in Clinical Social Work, I worked for UCSF Psychiatry Department and helped design and implement a new behavioral health program. Here I worked with clients with a wide variety of issues including severe depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and substance abuse. I utilized Motivational Interviewing and Harm Reduction approaches to help clients work through addictions, trauma, and mental illness.

After receiving my license in Clinical Social Work, I provided clinical supervision for UCSF employees and interns. In addition to my work at the Center, I work at Kaiser Permanente Psychiatry department.
